Great, Glorious News

Monday’s workout – walk/jog 1.5 miles + 25 minutes elliptical + 15 minutes bike + 10 minutes weights

In addition to winning tickets to an advance showing of Cirque du Soleil’s Totem (prime seating, too!), I had another check up with my doctor on Monday and he is thrilled — thrilled! –with my progress. I’m stoked, too. And super relieved I didn’t have to get surgery or cortisone shots which I think would’ve been the next step had I not shown improvement by this time.

So far I’ve been out of my walking cast for about a week and a half now. I’m walking around the mall and Costco just fine these days (understand these errands used to pose a problem), and I even sported boots (as in cowboy, not medical walking) while wine tasting this weekend! Just have to be extra careful these next few weeks — months even — to not re-injure myself. It’s still healing but they officially said no more boot for me! And jogging is fine. The official Rx was:

  • Week 1: Elliptical only. – Done
  • Week 2: Stick to the treadmill/track for jogging. No more than 2 miles at a time. No running consecutive days in a row. -Done
  • Week 3: Substitute 1 treadmill run for a run outside. No more than 2 miles at a time. No running consecutive days in a row.
  • Week 4: Running outside okay! Gradually build mileage, but still no running consecutive days in a row.

In anticipation of our upcoming trip to Hawaii, Shaun and I celebrated with some homemade daiquiris that reminded me of the lava flows I got in Hawaii last time I was there. Made with all natural fruit!

I’ve also been eating quite a bit of tropical-inspired sushi of late:

{Happy hour drinks and sushi at Mizu with Kristi on Thursday}

{Dinner Sunday night at Michi Sushi. Highly, highly recommend the Fantasy Trip made with fresh mangos and drizzled with a spot of honey!}

As well as tropical-inspired frozen yogurt from Pinkberry :P

{Salted Caramel swirled with Chocolate, topped with kiwi, raspberries and blueberries.}
