Strength In Numbers

After taking a few extra days off from the gym, I found myself moving up in weight, strength-wise, all across the board. This is huge for me since I’ve been essentially stuck with 20 lb dumbbells for overhead presses since college. The gyms I frequent jump from 20 lbs straight to 25 lbs, but persistence finally paid off this week and I graduated to using 25 lbs in each hand!

Overhead dumbbell press: 3 x 10 x 25

I also added

  • Another 5 lbs to my bench press: 3 x 10 x 95 (if the bar is 45. I think most are?)
  • Another 10 to both the hip adductor and abductor machines: 3 x 12 x 9
  • Less weight for assisted dips: 3 x 10 x 6

Foot progress report: Finally, some progress! Yesterday marked 5 weeks of being in the walking cast. I can now gingerly place my naked foot flat against the kitchen floor (one of the few rooms that are not carpeted) and it barely hurts! Weight on it is another story, but I’m hoping another 2 -3 weeks and I’ll be done with this thing!
