Birthday Bliss at Myth

Shortly after Shaun made me this chalkboard out of a picture frame, Susie admired it and asked if he’d make her one, too. I tucked the info away until last week when I was trying to decide what to give her for her birthday. Homemade chalkboards take a good week to make, so we had just enough time to put one together!

{Paired it with a Melissa & Doug Felt Chalk Eraser, a piece of chalk, and the original wire and nuts n’ bolts the frame came with to hang it.}

{Also added a little note about conditioning and care.}

Picked up this fun Duck Tape at Target and put it to good use.

Also picked up a few other goodies, not from Target.

:D

Then it was off to Myth! Myth Taverna & Lounge is one of the more recent additions to the downtown San Jose scene. It’s a Greek restaurant that transforms into a bar/dance club at 10 pm and is located where Smoke Tiki Lounge used to stand. At 7:30 pm on Saturday, it was pretty quiet as you can see from the photos, but by the time 11 pm rolled around, the place was packed.

I loved our table outside. With the city lights and buildings rising up around us, it evoked a feeling of dining al fresco on a rooftop in New York City. Only it was much warmer than NYC would’ve been this time of year! :P

Drinks were ordered, wine was opened (we brought a bottle of Castle Rock to share), and our host for the evening, Susie’s charming husband, Reza, ordered an array of traditional Greek appetizers for everyone to share. They were so good we ended up ordering more and made dinner out of them. Following, we moved over to a reserved lounge space where Reza ordered bottle service. There, I made Susie put her “Another Year of Fabulous” sash and pink party hat on and Sonja brought out cupcakes. Presents were opened, more drinks were poured, and dancing commenced. I think my foot’s starting to feel better: I made it til 1:30 am!

Know before you go:

  • Valet parking is located at the corner of Post and S. Almaden Ave. It is $10, but waived if you spend $50 or more at the restaurant
  • $10 corkage fee for wine
  • I tried one of their signature drinks, the Aphrodite. It is like a Cosmo but with pomegranate and is a tad too sweet for me.
  • The lines for the bathrooms are LONG since there are only 3 stalls. I waited maybe 5+ minutes, so plan accordingly.
  • Oh, and they’ve got bathroom attendants, probably to keep people from doing drugs or hooking up. Since I was in there for neither, she just handed me a towel to dry my hands and kept the sink tidy and probably the t.p. from running out. I also noticed they have quite an array of hairspray, mints, and gum that line the bathroom counters.
