After I hit the gym on Sunday, Shaun and I headed over to Saratoga for a little wine tasting at Savannah-Chanelle.
Being club members, our tastings (which range anywhere from $10 – $15 per flight) are always free. However, we ended up purchasing an entire case of pinot noir while we were there, so the visit ended up costing us wayyy more than had we just paid for our tastings. Still, it was a really good deal for a case of delicious pinot — though I’m not going to say how good the deal was because we purchased it with the thought that we’d give a majority away to friends and family around the holidays. 
Afterwards, we decided to cash in our Yelp Deal for The Counter. The Counter is a yummy build-your-own-burger joint at Santana Row (amongst other locations) and Yelp, who runs Groupon-like deals every now and then happened to advertise a $20 for $10 deal last week which I hopped right on. Not only was it like getting a bonus $10 to spend on food AND drinks, but you can use 2 deals per visit, so Shaun and I each bought two and got $40 for $20. I’ve seen a lot of similar deals advertised, but they stipulate only one deal per table which I’ve always thought was non-sensical. When I find a good deal, I forward it to my friends, but only one of us can use it when we go out together… Lame. Not this time, tho!
The place was packed when we showed up around 1:30 on Sunday due to the brunch and farmers market crowd, so we decided to wait at the bar. He got a Stella and I got a glass of sangiovese. After about a 15 minute wait, we were seated at a table outside where we got right down to business ordering. Check out their menu here.
His: 2/3 lb hamburger on a pretzel bun. Topped with horseradish, cheddar, jalapenos, scallions, red onion, and mixed greens with horseradish mayo.
Hers: 2/3 lb chicken on a hamburger bun (they were out of onion buns). Topped with grilled pineapple, lettuce blend, tomatoes, and bermuda red onions with ginger soy glaze. Jalepeno jack cheese on the side. 
Ours: Fifty-fifty sweet potato fries and crispy onion strings
