No Bueno

Ugh. Just when I thought I was going to be able to run on Sunday, I suddenly have a shooting pain in the ball of my right foot. It was so intense I had to cut my treadmill run short last night. What’s crazy is that I hadn’t even noticed something was wrong until I tried running in on it Wednesday night at the gym. Now, it hurts when I walk. It hurts when I stand. IT HURTS WHEN I REST and even just to flex it. It hurts enough to wake me at 3 am! I’ve never experienced anything like this before.

I did a little self-diagnosis and everything points to this. Currently icing it, taking some Advil and then hoping to go back to bed soon. Over the next few days, I’ll be wearing comfy shoes to work with plenty of cushioning and support (I think this is where I went wrong yesterday! I wore flats but they’ve got zero cushioning :( ) and hoping it will be better after more rest. And here I thought I was smooth sailing until Sunday’s race…

Here’s what I had originally planned on posting today. If only!

I think I have this tapering thing down! I used to be somebody who liked to only take 1 day off from working out per week. Then again, I was also somebody who considered anything over 6 miles a long run! Here’s a look at my workouts lately and what I had planned leading up to the half on Sunday (which I have since amended in green).

Friday – Rest

Saturday – Ran outside 10.83 miles, 1:22 minutes

Sunday – Rest

Monday – Ran outside 5.5 miles, 43 minutes + 20 minutes on the gym bike + 20 minutes weights

Tuesday – Rest

Wednesday – 45 minute HIIT on the treadmill + 20 minutes bike + 20 minutes weights

Thursday – Easy 3 mile run outside Buy gel inserts and rest

Friday – Rest

Saturday – Rest

Sunday – Race??
