It’s nearly 11 pm and I’m sitting at home enjoying my second bowl of spaghetti marinara for the evening and feeling SO MUCH BETTER now that I’ve been to the gym and showered!
When I initially arrived home from work, I wasn’t feeling a workout. Since I went super easy yesterday and have a rest day tomorrow before my long run on Saturday, I had speed work to do today. Only, energy-wise I felt drained and body-wise I was feeling straight-up bloated, grandiose, and just plain gross. Ladies, you know what I’m referring to. The 90 degree heat wave we’re having didn’t help either. I knew from experience and tried convincing myself I would feel better if I’d just get my butt to the gym (where they’ve got A/C!), but instead I settled on a glass of wine and 1/2 of a Trader Joes Dark Chocolate Caramel and Black Sea Salt bar while making a quick dinner to add to the bloat linguine, marinara sauce, and Trade Joes chicken strips — comfort food!!
Immediately following, I tidied the apartment a bit before plunking myself on the couch to catch up on some blogs. After awhile, I realized I could be doing this exact same thing at the gym using my iPad. So I went. And I’m so glad I did!
Today’s workout:
Couldn’t believe how good my legs felt once I got warmed up around the 7 minute mark! No knee trouble, no calf trouble, and I got up to 9.6 mph. Could’ve done more but didn’t want to risk another injury this close to my race, so instead I hopped on the bike, flipped open my iPad, and 30 minutes flew by. I also found a new blog that occupied most of my time: Made by Girl. Love, love, love and am so inspired by her interior design posts and artwork!
