Blueberry Mango Smoothies

Tuesday’s Workout: Run outside 4.5 miles, 20 minutes elliptical, 10 minutes bike, 15 minutes weights

After finding myself frequenting Trader Joes way too often (like every other day — ick) just to keep fresh bananas and spinach on hand for breakfast smoothies, I went back to the drawing board. I decided to try substituting frozen mangos for bananas and orange juice for spinach. The result is very similar to a Jamba Juice Orange Dream Machine minus all the calories! I think they use a frozen yogurt or sherbet in theirs. Anyways, mine’s surprisingly thick and creamy from the frozen fruit and milk combo, and the vanilla whey protein powder keeps me going until it’s time for my mid-morning snack — usually a slice of toast topped with pb and honey around 1030 am. Made this for the first time for Shrek this morning and it’s a winner!

Ingredients:

  • Frozen blueberries
  • Frozen mangos
  • Vanilla whey protein powder
  • milk
  • orange juice
Instructions: Liquify desired amounts in a blender and enjoy!
