On July 4th, Shrek and I practically missed our 630 am flight hopped the first flight out of town (6:30 am!) bound for Seattle where my cousin KT and her husband greeted us outside of baggage claim.

{Shrek, me, KT, T}
{You may remember KT from fun times such as these as these.}
After a quick stop at Starbucks, we made the drive 2 hours north to my childhood home where we celebrated Independence Day with my family and neighbors.
Mom had quite a “snack” waiting for us when we arrived (at 11 am) — champagne included!
At 1 pm we headed down to the north part of the island to catch the annual community parade! I was an active participant as a kid so it was fun to share this slice of my childhood with Shrek.
An hour later returned, parched.
Nothing like a cold beer, Washington wine, and BBQ on the 4th of July with family!
KT and her hus had to head back to Seattle at this point, but myself, Shrek, and my parents progressed over to our neighbor’s for dessert.
Later, we returned to my house and prepped for the fireworks with an impromtu photo shoot. Heh.
Then the sun went down, so we donned layers, poured some wine, and headed downstairs to the beach patio for a front row seat to the fireworks on display!
{Tide’s in.}
{My parents bundled up}

{Perfect pairing.}
