  1. I broke out my balance ball that’s been sitting deflated in my closet. Now when I have my Netflix marathons (we’re already on Season 4 of Alias!), I incorporate strength and balance exercises rather than sit on the couch like a blob eating Jelly Bellies like they’re going out of style. True story — that was me last week! I’m also using my yoga mat for planks, downward dogs, side angles, and deep stretches like this one. (These are favorites of mine but hard to describe.)
  2. Working out twice a day = LOTS O’ LAUNDRY! Seriously, this is what came out of the dryer last night after only 4 days. For the most part I don’t re-wear my workout clothes without washing them again because I sweat A LOT. I’m talking cascades of sweat dripping off me when I’m really in the zone. Occasionally on vacation I will re-wear shorts and at home I will re-wear my leggings but I only bust those out when it’s really cold (I am from Washington after all) and when it’s cold I don’t sweat very much. Fortunately, the weather is finally cooperating here so I can just wear my shorts (Nike Women’s Tempo, seen here on me) for my early a.m. runs. I think over the past several years my collection has grown to 8 pairs! The rationalization for that number? It allows me to go a week without doing laundry. Only, now working out twice per day I can only go 4 days. Woh woh. At least they still fit — size small! Woot!
  3. Finally, I’ve perfected my smoothie! Shrek loves starting his workday with these and I like to refuel with them after my a.m. run. I haven’t had cereal since I first broke out the blender back in February!

Mindy Knows: Blue Spinach Smoothie

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 handful of frozen blueberries
  • 1 handful of fresh spinach
  • 1 scoop vanilla whey protein
  • milk for desired consistency
Add all ingredients to a blender, liquefy, pour in a glass, and add a straw to enjoy!
