What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday in April! Way back in August, my friends and I went in on an $400 Bloomspot deal (similar to Groupon) that advertised 6 hours of sailing around San Francisco Bay on a gorgeous 44 ft sailboat for 6 passengers. Included in the deal? A seasoned crew of 3, gourmet sandwiches, snacks, mimosas, beer, and wine. Sold!

I cannot say enough good things about this experience! Shrek and I have done Bay cruises before where we were two among 30 people/strangers. Having the entire boat and crew to our party of 6 friends is the way to do it! Much more intimate and memorable.
In addition to food and drink, their boat is well-stocked with extras like sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, jackets, blankets, and books. They are also cool with passengers bringing their own goodies aboard so my friends and I brought extras like veggies, fruit, dip and wine… although it was totally unnecessary on our part.
The charter itself is family-owned and operated, the crew comprised of Dan, Chris, and Luke — a father, son, and family friend. All three are extremely capable and sea-savvy which they exercised out on the water. There was a nice breeze so our sails really caught some wind!

Highly, highly recommend the day cruise! I don’t think they’ve got a website up yet, but you can contact Captain Chris Tibbe at openoceansailing at gmail dot com for info.
Immediately following, we grubbed on some awesome Burmese food at a Burma Superstar. I recommend this place, too!

Looks amazing……..and no seasickness– which is great! Makes the Pelican look like child’s play::))
