“Sun Earth”
Sunday was pure bliss even though I had to say goodbye to my cousin who departed for her home, husband, and puppy in Seattle. Sure wish we lived closer, but on the flip-side it makes weekend visits like these all the more special. Also special? Brunch with my neighbors. These are not just any neighbors. I was so fortunate to grow up in a community where neighbors consider each other family. I recall many wonderful every day little interactions along with the big stuff like holidays, birthdays, crabbing expeditions, and milestones celebrated together that make my relationship with them so special. To boot, just this trip I was reminded that they were present at my legal adoption. I’d forgotten that bit, but they both took the day off work to accompany my parents and me to the courthouse! Aww…
Later, I indulged in a three-hour nap, a 5 mile run, a beach walk, and dinner with my parents where I made some executive decisions regarding the renovation to their home. Before I knew it, it was already time to pack. I am, however, already plotting my return trip this summer. With Shrek. Woohoo!
Backyard bliss
Mom’s cheerful centerpiece. Which made me sneeze. A lot.
Brunch at Seeds in La Conner. Great roast turkey and cranberry sandwich!
Brunch at Seeds in La Conner. Reminded me of California!
Brunch at Seeds in La Conner. Yup, those are fried oysters!
Guest bath remodel completed just in time for my visit.

I really lucked out on the weather. Just a few days later they got snowed in!

Antique accents.
By special request
BBQ salmon teriyaki a la my dad. So good I had it cold for breakfast the following morning!
Fresh pesto pasta.
Greens topped with mom’s homemade honey mustard vinaigrette.
My cat is too funny. I should’ve named her Louis instead of Mozart because she reminds me of King Louis XIV. If I recall correctly, wasn’t he known for (in addition to his royal duties and Versailles) living lavishly, eating well, and being quite rotund? Well, that’s my cat for ya:

did you meander into LaConner at all? the poor little town is pretty devastated from the economy…all except the candy store!
