Sneak Peak

Following are several photos from my whirlwind weekend in Washington to tide everyone over until I can get a proper post up. As you will see, I ate really well. I always do and along with seeing my family and friends it is one of the things I anticipate when visiting “home.” Judging from my cat, however, I’m kinda glad I can only make it up there twice, maybe three times a year. Or else I fear I’d be just as rotund and similarly spend my time lying around in a constant food coma. You’ll see exactly what I’m referring to by the time you scroll down to the bottom.

View of Seattle atop my grandma’s condo on First Hill.

“I see you’ve found the promised land.” -My cousin’s reply to a similar photo I posted to Facebook when I checked-in.

Grilled cheese and tomato soup a la Tom Douglas at the Dahlia Lounge in downtown Seattle.

Potato Fritter Gyro a la Tom Douglas.

Where I’m from.

Mom’s centerpiece.

Nine -count ‘em! – Bald Eagles perched in a tree by my parents’ house.

Indulging in my favorite ice cream at the Rhododendron Cafe in Bow, Washington

“Sun Earth”

My favorite chairs.

Backyard sunset.

Warm and cozy.

Dinner #1: Mom’s home cookin’ – rock fish in butter, white wine, garlic, shallots, and parsley topped with broiled dungeness crab. Served with a side of wild rice and asparagus.

Brownies and port for dessert. And brownies for breakfast ;)

Dinner #2 a la Dad: BBQ salmon

Greens tossed with homemade honey mustard vinaigrette.

Homemade pesto pasta.

My sentiments exactly:

  1. I’m beginning to worry that I’m starting to look like the cat, especially after the weekend of eating. You missed the fun weather……..I mowed the lawn this afternoon and it’s currently snowing!!

  2. it is snowing by us also. weird. min, your photography skills are stellar–that is perhaps the best photograph of ice cream that i’ve ever seen, which is fitting since that is the best chocolate ice cream that i’ve EVER tasted.

    • Aw, thanks! I call official photographer at your and Trav’s 50th wedding anniversary! :) And I’m so glad you agree about the ice cream because it means I’m not crazy for raving about it throughout our entire trip to Fairhaven. :P
