My friend threw a birthday bash for her husband Saturday night replete with live flamenco music, a bounty of food and drink, 80+ guests, and the most amazing cake I’ve ever eaten. And I’ve eaten A LOT of cake in my time.
Vanilla Chiffon Cake with raspberry jam and custard filling by Bijan Bakery. What makes it so great? The “cake” is more like shortcake, the frosting whipped cream, and who doesn’t like those with raspberry jam?! My friend heard me gushing about it while heartily digging into my second slice and insisted I take some home. And by “some” she meant a GINORMOUS piece which I singlehandedly polished off the next day.
