Encore!

Proof that this was the most relaxing vacation ever? Me, the girl with the 5 am internal alarm clock, slept ’til 2 each afternoon thanks to our SWEET suite at the Encore with the darkest blackout curtains EVER. And no, I wasn’t stumbling back to my room as the sun rose. I’d say I got a solid 13 hours of sleep each night!

Further proof this was the most relaxing vacation ever? I got Shrek into the tub.

At first he was very resistant: “But Babe, I don’t really like baths… I’m not a bath person… blah blah NO BATH.”

So I conceded and drew a bath “for me” complete with low lighting, candles, bubbles……. and golf. Okay, so the Golf Channel on the bathroom’s TV wasn’t for me. It was my ploy to get Shrek to join me. And it worked. The only problem? I couldn’t get him OUT of the damn tub once he got in. Figures, huh?

By now you may be wondering how we were able to stay in this super sweet suite at the Encore when I’m as cheap as I am. (Hey, I may be toting around Burberry and Louis Vuitton but I packed granola bars from home to avoid paying inflated breakfast prices.) Let’s face it, at this point in my life there’s no way I’d drop (or even let Shrek drop) $700 PER NIGHT on a suite which is what this room typically goes for. We originally booked ourselves a Deluxe Room at the Mirage Hotel but then our supervisor at work, who was SO SURE that Shrek and I would come back hitched (ha!), extended a promotion to us that he’d received for being a frequent guest of the property. Coupled with the fact that we were going mid-week the suite turned out to be just a little bit more than what we’d be paying for a lesser room at a lesser hotel. Thus, the last minute change in accommodations was completely worth the hassle of canceling, rebooking, and reworking our vacation budget. Especially since we spent so much time in our room and running between the Wynn, Encore and Fashion Mall. Oh, and the pool, too!
