Growing up on an island doing stuff like this

has made me a bit of a seafood snob. (But really, can y0u blame me?)
Especially when it comes to crab cakes. Pretty much I try them whenever I see them on a menu and up until Friday night, nothing rivaled them… until now. (Sorry Mom!)
Crab Cakes a la Shrek
Friday, Shrek and his brother drove all the way out to Half Moon Bay to purchase 5 fresh dungeness crabs.
and turned into magicians in the kitchen upon returning to their respective abodes. Friday night — with help from his lovely assistant
— Shrek transformed
this…
into
Fresh homemade pico de gallo. (Ingredients: tomatoes, cilantro, garlic, onion, shallot, salt, pepper.)
This
into
Fresh homemade guacamole (avacado, tomato, cilantro, garlic, shallot, salt, pepper)
And finally, these
into
Crab Cakes!!
YUM-MAZING! I must confess that the dressed up cakes are Shrek’s. I ate mine naked with a little squeeze of fresh lemon juice. (Though I ate plenty of salsa and guacamole on tortilla chips.) We also paired the cakes with mixed greens tossed in my homemade tart n’ tangy dressing. Dressing recipe here. Crab cake how-to to post shortly. Happy Easter, All!

Ok, all those posts of gathering fresh seafood are making me a) jealous and b) hungry!! YUM!
Could I possibly have been outdone????
